Robert Allen Troxel, 72, died February 1, 2021 in his Exeter Township residence.
He was the loving husband of Barbara A. (Leister) Troxel, to whom he was married for 38 years.
Born June 2, 1948, in Reading, he was a son of the late Ray I. and Margaret R. (Essick) Troxel.
Bob was a 1966 graduate of Oley Valley High School, a graduate of Northeastern Christian Bible College, Villanova, a graduate of Millersville University, where he earned his degree in special education, and a graduate of Temple University, where he earned his master’s degree and Principal’s certificate.
He was employed as a special education teacher with BCIU for over 30 years, retiring in 2006. He was the recipient of the Annie Sullivan Award, awarded to special education teachers.
Bob was a member of Zion-Spies Lutheran Church, Alsace Township, where he served on church council since he was 18 years old, having held many positions over the years. He also served as treasurer for over 30 years. He was also a Psalm (Synodically Authorized Lay Minister).
He proudly served his community in many capacities including: serving as current president of Spies-Zion Cemetery, serving 10 years as past president in Lutheran Brotherhood Fraternal Organization, coaching Exeter Little League for a number of years, active involvement in Boy Scouts Pack and Troop #508, and lastly, he was a member of the PASR where he served as membership chair for 2 years.
An avid history buff, he also enjoyed sports, especially the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, he was an avid reader, with his favorite author being John Grisham; as a jokester he loved telling jokes and kidding around; he enjoyed playing golf and in his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball, which he did on various teams in the Oley area.
Bob, along with his wife, sold Longaberger baskets for 25 years, however, above all else, his favorite thing to do was spend time with his grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his two sons: Brandon R. Troxel of Allentown and Scott A., husband of Winona Sheetz of Temple.
There are also three grandchildren, Talon, Caiden, and Desiree.
Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Nannette Evans.
Services will be held Saturday, February 6th at 11 a.m. at Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., 423 Main Street, Oley. A viewing will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. Burial at Spies-Zion Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. For those unable to attend the service, a live-stream video will be available.
