Robert S. “Bob” Fisher, 92, passed away June 21, 2021 in Reading Hospital.
Bob was married to Theresa H. Fisher, who died January 25, 2021. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage in April.
Born in Tamaqua on February 6, 1929, he was the son of the late Samuel P. Fisher and Esther Ruth (Kershner) Fisher.
Bob was a 1947 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School. At age 16, he began working for the Reading Railroad, where he was employed for 47 years as a lineman.
Bob proudly served his country by joining the Army and serving in the Korean Conflict, working his way up to staff sergeant. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and United Nations Service medals.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.
Bob is survived by a nephew, Michael J., husband of Jacqueline Penkauskas, of Alburtis, PA and a niece, Justine L., wife of Anthony Sabanos, of Sinking Spring. He is predeceased by a sister, Carolyn Fisher.
A service will be held Friday, June 25th at 10:00am at Stitzel Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00am at the funeral home. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
