Palma (Calabrese) Borgatta, 93, formerly of Lower Heidelberg Township, died April 1, 2022, in Berks Heim, Bern Township.
She was married in Genova, Italy on August 7, 1955, to Mario Borgatta, who died August 12, 2016.
Born April 24, 1928 in Alimena, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Maria (Forello) Calabrese.
Palma was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.
She was the matriarch of the Borgatta and Calabrese families; a strong, loving woman, there was nothing more important to her than family.
Palma was the loving mother to Louis, husband of Rosanna (Maieli) Borgatta of Spring Township, and Mary J. (Borgatta), wife of Thomas J. McDonald of Lower Heidelberg Township.
Affectionately known as “Grammy” she is also survived by her grandchildren: Ashley A. (Borgatta), wife of William Moser, Mario S. Borgatta, Louis F. Borgatta, Brittney N. McDonald, James M. McDonald, and Kailey A. McDonald and a great-grandson, Paxton Moser.
She was the oldest of 8 children: Pino, husband of Elena; Pietro (Deceased); Salvatore, husband of Maria; Antonio, husband of Gera; Angelo, husband of Antoinette; Rosa, wife of Antonio; and Lidia, wife of Roberto.
Palma is also survived by a sister-in-law, Pina Calabrese.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 7th at 12 noon in St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, 2800 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608.
A viewing will be held Thursday morning from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon in the Church.
Entombment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery and Mausoleum, Spring Township.
