Maria Eujenia Iraheta, 84, of Reading, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Tuesday August 10, 2021. Born on September 6, 1936 in the Department of Cabañas, El Salvador, she was the daughter of Vicente Iraheta and Maria Arevalo. Maria was the loving wife of Maximiliano Velasco.
While living in El Salvador, Maria worked on her family farm. She was dedicated to her family and had a very loving personality.
Maria was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church.
In addition to her spouse, Maria is survived by her children: Sonia Velasco, husband of Juan Guerrero, of Reading, Rafael Velasco, of Muhlenberg, and Roberto Velasco, of Temple. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Karen Guerrero, wife of Trey Frey, of Exeter; Nestor Guerrero, Elmer Guerrero, and Jasmin Guerrero, all of Reading; Nayeli Velasco, Edwin Velasco, Victor Velasco, and Samantha Velasco, all of Muhlenberg. She leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Noah, Victor, Yobani, and Cristiano. Maria is also survived by a sister, Emilia Iraheta.
She is predeceased by her brother, Jose Iraheta.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2021 at the Stitzel Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. The viewing will begin at 11:00am with a funeral service beginning at 1:00pm. Burial will take place at Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
