Margery Lois Helm, 92, formerly of Muhlenberg Park, died July 6, 2021 at Columbia Cottage, Wyomissing.
She was the widow of George D. Helm, with whom she shared 56 years of marriage.
Born, November 16, 1928, in Troy, NY, she was a daughter of the late Paul Max and Louise M. (Baesen) Reinhardt.
Margery was a 1946 graduate of Troy High School; a 1950 graduate of Russell Sage College, Troy, NY; and a 1951 graduate of New York State College, Albany, NY, where she earned her master’s degree in Health and Physical Education. She later received her certification in library science from Kutztown University.
She was employed as a librarian with Wilson School District for over 20 years.
Margery was a member of Rosedale United Church of Christ, Laureldale.
She was a member of Western Electric Laurel Camera Club, Women’s Club of Muhlenberg and several bridge clubs; she also served as a docent at The Reading Public Museum.
Surviving are her four children: Dr. Brenda D. (Helm), widow of Richard A. Leiby of Muhlenberg Township; George D., husband of Pamela L. (Kemp) Helm of Macedon, NY; Dr. Jeffrey D., husband of Barbara (Brower) Helm of Bethlehem, Northampton County; and Pamela D. (Helm), wife of Jim Frankola of Muhlenberg Township.
Other survivors include her nine grandchildren: Kristin Helm, Katherine Dempsher, Amanda Nelson, Kimberly Westman, Ethan Leiby, Megan Zielinski, Kaitlyn Barragato, Abigail Frankola and Sarah Frankola; and 13 great grandchildren.
In addition, she is survived by her sister, Ruth E. Goerold, of Troy, NY.
Margery was preceded in death by her grandson, Kurtis Helm in 2011, by her sister, Eleanor Miller, and by her brother, Paul Reinhardt.
Services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Rosedale United Church of Christ, 1301 E. Bellevue Avenue, Laureldale, PA 19605. A viewing will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the church. Burial will follow at Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township. The services will be live streamed and will be available to view on Margery’s obituary page, found at Stitzels.com.
