Kurt Walter Kraus, Sr., 85 of Mohrsville, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2021 at Tower Health – Reading Hospital & Medical Center, surrounded by his four children.
He was the husband of the late Jacqueline Irene (Lenart) Kraus, who died November 10, 1974. They were married on April 25, 1959.
Born, October 18, 1935, in Hackettstown, NJ, he was the son of the late Rudolf A. and Lena S. (Kessler) Kraus.
Kurt proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the tank division in Hanau, Germany.
He loved to spend time with his family and was a great storyteller. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed going hunting and fishing. He was a longtime member of Camp Chilly in Tioga County.
Kurt also enjoyed working in his garden and taking care of his fruit trees.
Surviving are his four children: Kurt W., husband of Kimberly A. (Brown) Kraus of Clearfield, UT; Elyse J. (Kraus) George of Centre Township; Lynda J. (Kraus) Boltz, partner of James Wosochlo of Alamosa, CO; and Steven K., husband of Dena M. (Intelisano) Kraus of Bern Township.
Other survivors include his nine grandchildren: Jessica Kraus, Michael Kraus, Brittany Kraus, Thomas George, Brandon George, Kirstyn Boltz, Bobby Boltz, Logan Kraus, and Olivia Kraus. He also had three great grandchildren, Alyssa George, Jacob George and Dylan Kraus.
Also surviving are his two sisters: Lisa Burkhardt of Spring Township and Amy Vieth of California.
Kurt was preceded in death by his brother, Rudy.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inc., Laureldale is in charge of arrangements.
