Obituary

James A. “Jim” Sheipe, 87, of Laureldale, died April 25, 2022 at Tower Health – Reading Hospital, West Reading.

He was the loving husband of Anna M. (Faller) Sheipe, with whom he would have shared 66 years of marriage on April 28, 2022.

Born February 10, 1935, in Temple, he was a son of the late Thomas H. and Millie E. (Smith) Sheipe.

Jim was a member of Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, Hyde Park.

He was a 1952 graduate of Muhlenberg High School, where he was inducted into their Hall of Fame.  He was still an active member of his class.

He was the owner and operator of Atlantic Gas Station in Hyde Park for 10 years, and subsequently owned and operated Wolverton’s Bike Shop, Hyde Park, for over 25 years, retiring in 1998.

Deeply involved in the community, Jim  was Vice President of the Muhlenberg A’s Baseball Club and was very active in maintaining the baseball fields; he had his own “Field of Dreams ” at Jim Dietrich Park, Muhlenberg Township, which was named after him.   He affected many generations in positive ways.  He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by family and friends!

Jim’s  greatest enjoyment came from following his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities – he was always there.   He will now have a front row seat to watch!

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his four children: Susan M., wife of Matthew B. Gross of Exeter Township; Elaine M., wife of Timothy R. Forry of Reinholds; Joanne C., wife of Larry D. Shuman of Laureldale; and Jim C. Sheipe, husband of Danielle S. of Muhlenberg Township.
