Bruce K. Riegel, 65, of Tilden Township, died unexpectedly February 4, 2021 while vacationing in Florida.
He was the widower of Hettie L. (Shirk) Riegel, who died June 7, 2015.
Born August 30, 1955 in Allentown, Lehigh County, he was a son of the late Raymond H., and Evelyn G. (Lenhart) Riegel.
Bruce was a 1973 graduate of Kutztown Area High School.
He was an active member of St. Michael’s Church, Tilden Township.
Bruce was employed as truck driver by trade including Caloric, Red Star and New Penn. After retirement he worked for Dietrich Trucking and CHM Contracting. He also worked for Stitzel Family Funeral Home.
Bruce loved playing cards with friends and family. He was quite a joke teller. He loved dogs. He loved cruises, especially the trip to Alaska. He loved spending time with the “Up On The Hill Gang” (Dunkin) friends.
Bruce enjoyed watching his grandkids and great niece and great nephew play sports. He also enjoyed playing Santa Claus especially on his front yard sleigh when he lived in Edenburg.
He is survived by his fiancée, Dorothy I. McLaughlin.
Other survivors include his son, Greg Riegel, brother, Brian Riegel, niece Jenny McAvoy, and her children: Sean and Medina; nephews: Ashley (Kelly) Riegel, and their children: Madison and Carter; Billy Riegel, Andy Shirk, Scott (Rachel) Shirk, and their children: Matthew and Catherine, and a father-in-law, Henry, widower of Marion Shirk.
Bruce was predeceased by his brothers Milton and Lester Riegel.
He is also survived by Dorothy’s children: Michael (Valerie) Hoppes, and Aaron (Liza) Hoppes and seven grandchildren who knew him as Pappy: Cody, Phalene, Brielle, Jewlyet and Harland Hoppes, and Delanie and Jadyn Heck-Hoppes.
Services will be held Saturday, February 13th at 11:00 am in St. Michael’s Church, 529 St Michaels Road, Hamburg, PA 19526.
A viewing will be held from 9:30 – 11:00 in the Church.
Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery, Albany Township.
