Thomas George Schoettle

June 8, 1946 ~ May 18, 2019 (age 72)

Thomas G. Schoettle, 72, of Pocono Lake, Monroe County, died May 18, 2019 in the VA Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, PA after a long, brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on June 8, 1946, he was a son of the late Jacob G. and Agnes M. (Cooper) Schoettle.

He was a 1964 graduate of John Bartram High School, Philadelphia.

Thom was a proud Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was a loyal partner, father, brother, and friend who was passionate about two things, his family and food!  He was an incredible chef who expressed his love through cooking.  He enjoyed traveling, ballroom dancing, crossword puzzles, cryptograms, and sudoku.  In his early years, he was an avid skier and loved taking his kids on camping trips.

He is survived by his life partner of 25 years, Janice Miller-Lion and her children: Janice Lion, wife of Malcolm McAtee and Josh Lion, life partner of Nancy Kunkle.

Thom is also survived by four children: Christine M. (Schoettle) Kreisher, wife of James Kreisher of Spring Township; Thomas R., husband of Kara (Berger) Schoettle of Bradenton, Florida; Daniel W. McDonnell, husband of Sherin Varkey of Lancaster, PA and William, husband of Jessica (Kay) McDonnell of Saylorsburg, Monroe County.

He was the proud grandfather of 13 grandchildren: Jason, Jordan, Jimmy, Dakota, Trinity, Keegan, Rylan, Kai, Aiden, Zachary, Marina, Josh Jr. and Desmond and one great granddaughter, Autumn.

Other survivors include a sister, Agnes E. (Schoettle) Zane, widow of Vincent Paul Zane, Jr. and her children: Sandy (Zane) Manton and Peter Zane.

Thom will be sorely missed by his beloved dog, Hobbs.

At Thom's request, there will be no public services.
