Benjamin Franklin Powell, Sr., died September 24, 2019 in his Oley Township residence.
He was the husband of Wanda Lee (Peters) Powell, whom he married January 5, 1952.
Born in Pottstown Hospital on October 16, 1931, he was a son of the late William Edward Powell, Sr., and Marguerite Louise (Yetter) Powell.
Benjamin was a 1949 graduate of North Coventry High School.
He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Benjamin was employed 30 years with Bethlehem Steel, retiring as a draftsman in 1980.
He was the proud father of five children: Wilma S., wife of Robert G. Schaeffer of Oley; Brenda L., widow of Joseph Munn of Orfield; Benjamin F. Powell, Jr. (1955-1983); Robert M. Powell, companion of Christine Kuser of Earl Township and Judy A. Klopp of Ephrata.
Benjamin is also survived by a brother, Richard A., widower of Mariam Powell of Potter County.
He was affectionately known as Pop-Pop, to four grandchildren: Kevin Robert Schaeffer, Jalinn T. Klopp, Crystal Powell and Jean Munn and one great grandson, Brody Heuyard.
Benjamin was also predeceased by six siblings: Marguerite E. Taylor, Clyde E. Powell, June E. Ray, Ralph W. Powell, Aubrey L. Powell and William E. Powell, Jr.
Services were held privately.
Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery, Chester County.
